Valentine's Day 2020 - The Day After

Saturday, February 15, 2020

Warren had us over for dinner tonight and made a chocolate cream pie to commemorate Valentine's Day yesterday. Delicious.

He also got this picture of his new kitty, Johnny Cat, sitting on my lap.

Valentine's Day 2020 - Cocktails, Dinner, & Dessert

I had a martini for cocktail hour and one with dinner. Dale and I did a dry January this year and this is the first time I've had straight gin since December 31st. I wasn't seeing pink elephants but I sure could tell how much my tolerance has changed.

Dale and I had pizza and salad for dinner with Dove ice cream bars for dessert. We also dug in to the box of Dove chocolates I bought the other day. I dropped the box on the floor so unfortunately we lost a few.

Valentine's Day 2020 - Valentine Exchange

Friday, February 14, 2020

As always, the kids were quite excited about Valentine's Day. This year we got the directive that no candy could be passed out. It cut down the number of kids that brought cards to pass out but I'd say about half did so. Instead of candy many student's brought non edible favors like play-doh, pencils, erasers, bookmarks, etc. All very fun stuff that they seemed to like at least as much as candy based on the enthusiasm I saw from them.

Now that they're in 3rd grade they can all read the names on the cards. That wasn't true for some of them when I taught 1st grade a couple years ago. I didn't have to help anyone read the names this time.

Although their excitement can push me to near exhaustion by the end of the day, I'm always touched when I see them passing out their cards.

When I got to school this morning Kearney arrived at my classroom door to give me this Valentine.

Valentine's Day 2020 - Chilly!

Friday, February 14, 2020

'Twas a very chilly morning yet I braved the walk to school. It "warmed" up to 15 above in time for my afternoon walk home but it was so windy it felt at least as cold as this morning.

I found these glasses at Target last week. I passed them out at school to some teacher friends and we all looked great!

Valentine's Day on the Way - Cards

Wednesday, February 12, 2020

Picked my cards up at Target the other day. I usually stick with something I'm familiar with like Peanuts as opposed to some of the new stuff I've never heard of. These cards have detachable bookmarks and are scented like bubble gum. How cool is that?
